Description
These taco lettuce wraps are a fresh and healthy alternative to traditional tacos. They are quick to prepare and packed with flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground turkey or lean ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped finely
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 packet (1 ounce) taco seasoning
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 head butter lettuce or romaine lettuce, leaves separated
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 1/4 cup salsa
- 1/4 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground turkey or beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for 3-5 minutes, until the onion softens.
- Stir in the taco seasoning and water. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the liquid has mostly evaporated and the mixture has thickened.
- Remove from heat.
- To assemble the wraps, spoon the taco meat mixture into individual lettuce leaves.
- Top with shredded cheese, fresh cilantro, salsa, and sour cream or Greek yogurt.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- You can customize your toppings with avocado, diced tomatoes, or jalapeños.
- For a vegetarian option, use black beans or crumbled plant-based meat alternative.
- Leftover taco meat can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
