Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound pasta
  • 4 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 (15 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 pound Italian sausage, casing removed (optional)
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. In a large pot or Dutch oven, combine pasta, broth, diced tomatoes, sausage (if using), onion, garlic, oregano, and basil.
  2. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  4. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until pasta is cooked through and most of the liquid has been absorbed. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

  6. Serve immediately.
