Description

Hot chocolate bombs are a fun and visually appealing way to make hot chocolate. They are spheres of chocolate filled with hot cocoa mix and marshmallows that melt in hot milk to create a rich and creamy drink.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz chocolate, chopped (milk, dark, or semi-sweet)
  • 24 tablespoons hot cocoa mix
  • 1/4 cup mini marshmallows
  • Optional: Sprinkles, peppermint chips, caramel bits

Instructions

  1. Melt the chocolate using a double boiler or microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each.
  2. Pour the melted chocolate into silicone sphere molds, coating the sides evenly.
  3. Let the chocolate set slightly, then add another layer if needed for thickness.
  4. Chill the molds in the refrigerator for about 10-15 minutes until firm.
  5. Gently remove the chocolate spheres from the molds.
  6. Fill half of the spheres with hot cocoa mix and marshmallows.
  7. Warm the rim of the empty chocolate spheres by placing them on a warm plate for a few seconds.
  8. Attach the warmed rim of an empty sphere to a filled sphere to create a complete bomb.
  9. Decorate with additional chocolate or sprinkles if desired.
  10. To serve, place one hot chocolate bomb in a mug and pour hot milk over it. Stir until melted and enjoy.

Notes

  • Ensure your chocolate is fully melted and smooth for best results.
  • Do not overheat the chocolate, as it can seize.
  • Work quickly when filling and sealing the bombs to prevent them from melting.
  • Experiment with different types of chocolate and fillings for various flavors.
