Delicious chocolate chip scones, perfect for breakfast or a snack.
Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 2/3 cup heavy cream
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the chocolate chips.
- Make a well in the center and pour in the heavy cream. Mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently pat into a 1-inch thick circle.
- Cut the circle into 8 wedges.
- Place wedges on the prepared baking sheet.
- Brush the tops with beaten egg.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Let cool on a wire rack.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the heavy cream.
- If you don’t have heavy cream, half-and-half can be used, but the scones may be less rich.
- Store cooled scones in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
