  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup buffalo sauce (your favorite brand)
  • 2 tablespoons melted unsalted butter (or dairy-free alternative)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)

Instructions

  1. Press tofu: Drain and press the tofu for at least 30 minutes to remove excess water. This helps it get crispy.
  2. Cut tofu: Cut the pressed tofu into 1-inch cubes.
  3. Coat tofu: In a medium bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
  4. Bake tofu: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange the coated tofu in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Prepare buffalo sauce: While the tofu bakes, whisk together buffalo sauce, melted butter, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper (if using) in a small bowl.
  6. Toss with sauce: Once the tofu is baked, transfer it to a large bowl. Pour the buffalo sauce over the hot tofu and gently toss until all pieces are evenly coated.
  7. Serve: Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce like vegan ranch or blue cheese dressing, and celery sticks.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, you can air fry the tofu at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket occasionally.
  • Adjust the amount of buffalo sauce and cayenne pepper to your preferred spice level.
